Abstract
This research aims to examine the dynamics of governance in the Village- Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Manjung Makmur in strengthening the local economy of Manjung Village, Panekan Subdistrict, Magetan Regency. The study focuses on management strategies, community participation, and the influence of internal and external factors on the success and sustainability of BUMDes activities. A qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis.
The findings reveal that BUMDes Manjung Makmur has contributed to public service sectors such as electricity bill payments, PDAM (clean water utility), and motor vehicle tax payments. However, other business units have faced significant challenges, including the discontinuation of organic fertilizer production. These challenges stem from weak managerial capacity, a lack of innovation, limited capital, and inadequate human resources. This indicates that the success of BUMDes depends not only on business presence but also on the quality of governance and consistent support systems.
Despite these obstacles, there is significant potential for revitalization through strengthened stakeholder collaboration, capacity-building training, and the implementation of more participatory and transparent governance systems. With an adaptive and community empowerment-based management approach, BUMDes Manjung Makmur has the potential to become a key driver of a resilient and sustainable local economy.
