Abstract

Deaf Deaf adolescents face challenges in communication, social interaction, and emotional management, which can affect their self-confidence and psychological development. Therefore, the role of the family becomes very important as it directly affects the quality of life of deaf adolescents. Maximum support from the family can help them develop communication skills, emotional management, and optimal self-potential. To determine the role of the family in assisting the psychological development of deaf adolescents. The research method used by researchers is a qualitative method with case studies on 3 participants, namely Mrs. S (P1), Mr. K (P2), and Ms. A (P3). This research was validated and triangulated with semi-structured interviews with participants directly. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. Analysis of data obtained by researchers from interviews resulted in 4 themes, namely 1) The Role of the Family in Supporting Communication for Psychological Development, 2) Family Role in Emotional Support for Psychological Development, 3) Family Role in Social Support for Psychological Development, 4) Family Role in Educational Support for Psychological Development. From the discussion of the results of data analysis with 4 themes, it is concluded that the family plays an important role in assisting the psychological development of deaf adolescents through communication, emotional, social, and educational support as needed to support their potential and confidence.
