Abstract

Background: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in Indonesia and leaves significant impacts, including physical disability and dependence on family care. Stroke patients who survive the acute phase often face major challenges in their recovery process, both physically, psychologically, and socially. The role of the family in supporting stroke recovery is very important to improve the quality of life of sufferers. The family as the smallest unit in society has a great responsibility in caring for family members who suffer from post-stroke Objective: to explore the strategies used by families in caring for post-stroke sufferers in order to support the recovery process and improve the quality of life of patients Method: This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method used to analyze the experiences and strategies of families who have cared for stroke sufferers for 15 years in Ngentrong Village. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with three participants. Results: The results of the study found three themes, namely mobilization exercises with ROM, provision of facilities, and helping with basic needs care. Conclusion: Structured and consistent family support has proven effective in improving patient independence and the quality of life of stroke sufferers. This strategy can be used as a reference in post-stroke care at the family and community levels, from the results of the study, families in caring for stroke sufferers are very good.
