Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder caused by the pancreas's inability to produce insulin or the body's inability to use insulin effectively. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar balance. Various efforts can be made to control blood sugar in Diabetes Mellitus, including diet, routine clinical checks using a glucometer, and physical activity. Objective: This study aims to explore patients' experiences in maintaining stable blood sugar levels. Method: This research uses a qualitative method with semi-structured interview techniques to explore the experiences of diabetes mellitus patients. The study is reinforced by applying triangulation through direct interviews with three participants: Mr. J, Mrs. N, and Ms. L. Results: The study produced several analyses from interview data that were validated by the participants, resulting in three main themes: 1) Adhering to Dietary Guidelines, 2) Compliance in Medication and Blood Sugar Monitoring, and 3) Engaging in Physical Activity. Conclusion: A healthy lifestyle can positively influence and help stabilize blood sugar levels in individuals with Diabetes Mellitus.
