Abstract
Background:Ambulance nurses play an important role in emergency care. However, ambulance nurses often face challenges such as limited resources, unpredictable work environment conditions, and psychological stress. Objective: To explore the knowledge of Public Safet Center (PSC) 119 Malang ambulance nurses in handling medical emergencies in the prehospital area. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed by domain analysis. The Malang city PSC 119 office served as the research site Results: The results of the analysis obtained five themes, namely: 1). Case management such as types of prehospital medical emergency cases, prehospital medical emergency treatment in trauma cases, and prehospital medical emergency treatment in non-trauma cases 2). Teamwork of PSC 119 ambulance nurses such as the flow of prehospital medical emergency treatment, communication of ambulance nurses with various parties, and communication system and division of tasks of ambulance nurses 3). Ambulance regulations such as the type of PSC 119 ambulance and the availability of tools and ambulance inspection time 4). Barriers to PSC 119 5). Satisfaction of PSC ambulance nurses Conclusion: PSC 119 involves ambulance nurses as key personnel in the management of medical emergencies in the prehospital area. Handling prehospital medical emergencies requires good communication and teamwork.
