Abstract
Based on a preliminary study conducted in grade V at SDN 02 Pakisaji, it
was found that there is a significant issue regardingthe lack of innovatife and
student-friendly learning media. Survey results indicated that 97% of students
were not familiar with concrete learning media. This condition negatively impacts
understanding, especially in subjects that require visual and practical
comprehension. As an alternative solution, a 3D learning media named “ecofun
Diorama” was developed. The purpose of this development is to create an
innovative and engaging educational product to improve student’s cognitive
learning outcomes in science, environment, and social studies (IPAS).
This research employed the ADDIE development model, which includes
five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The
data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and
documentation. The analysis showed that the absence of concrete media caused
teaching to become monotonous and less innovative. The study involed 29
student’s in total, comparising 14 boys and 15 girls.
The Ecofun Diorama media was using 12 mm tcick plywood shaped into a
cylindrical model split into two equal halves. The Ecofun Diorama consist four
compartments-two on the upper side and the lower-with a heigt 40 cm and a
diameter 40 cm each. During learning process, student’s werw divided into four
groups according to four types of ecosystems represented in the diorama. Each
group practiced using the media, answered questions with teacher guidance, and
presented their findings in class.
The material validation scored was 86% and the media validation score was
also 86%. The average evaluation test score was 80, while student responses
reached above 90%. Based on the findings, the Ecofun diorama is considered
feasible and effective for use in teaching ecosystem material in grade V IPAS.
However, the research is limited to grade V students at SDN 02 Pakisaji and only
covers ecosystem components.
