Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Conservation Based Learning (CBL) learning model on critical and creative thinking skills through learning materials ecosystem components and their interactions in Class X students of SMA Negeri 4 Malang. This study is a quantitative research with the type of (Quasi – Experimental) research and Non-equivalent control group design. Samples were determined using purposive sampling technique, and chose X-GR class as control class and X-KG as experimental class. Research instruments using 5 essay questions. The collected data were then analyzed using one-way ANCOVA test. The results showed that CBL model significantly affect students critical and creative thinking skills (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The results of the study showed the influence of Conservation Based Learning (CBL) learning model to improve critical thinking and creative skills in the experimental class compared to the control class that uses Non-CBL learning model.
