Abstract
Inclusive Education is currently still not widely known, inclusive education itself is Inclusive Education is education in the form of a school that combines regular students with students with special needs where Inclusive Education is implemented in selected schools, namely in Inclusive Schools. Regular children and children with disabilities have the same rights to get a decent education, as well as the same treatment. One of the people with disabilities or Children with Special Needs (ABK) in Inclusive Elementary Schools is a child with Mild Mental Disability, where children with Mild Mental Disability have intellectual disabilities. One of them is the ability to read where the ability to read is to combine several words that form sentences into digestible information. From the results of observations conducted by researchers, it was found that students with Mild Mental Disability at Inclusive Elementary School SDN Mojorejo 01 Batu had difficulty in early reading skills such as reading two syllables that were still spelled and could not read words ending in patent letters, and there was no innovative learning media other than books that could be played in real terms by these students with mild mental disabilities. So that with the existence of the lemper box learning media, it is hoped that it can help students in learning early reading material. This study aims to describe the process of developing KOTAK LEMPER media for the initial reading skills of students with Mild Mental Disabilities in grade 1 at an Inclusive Elementary School, to attract students' interest and encourage students' enthusiasm for learning, and to make it easier for students to understand initial reading materials.
The development of KOTAK LEMPER learning media uses the research and development (RnD) method. Research and development (RnD) is a study that aims to produce new products through the development process. While in this study, using the ADDIE research and development model, the ADDIE model is a research and development model that is considered rational and complete so that it can be used for various forms of product development such as models, method strategies, media and teaching materials. So this ADDIE model is suitable for developing concrete products that can be operated directly by students and teachers. ADDIE stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This study uses qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques, the research conducted at SDN Mojorejo 01 Batu was carried out for 3 consecutive days. The first meeting was the pre-test, delivery of material and use of media in the inclusive class, the second meeting was the delivery of material in the resource room, and the third meeting was reflection on material, working on post-test questions and student response questionnaires.
Based on the results of research conducted by researchers at the Inclusive Elementary School SDN Mojorejo 01 Batu, especially for ABK students with mild mental retardation, researchers developed an innovation in learning media in the form of an educational game called Kotak Lemper (Beginning Reading Lego Box) to help deliver early reading material. From the results of the study, ABK students with mild mental retardation got an average score of 90% from the post-test results and 96.43% were obtained from the results of filling out the student response questionnaire. While from the results of the educator response questionnaire, researchers got a result of 100%, from the results of the study it can be concluded that the Kotak Lemper learning media is suitable for use as an early reading learning media for students with mild mental retardation, can help students with mild mental retardation in learning early reading, can attract attention and can help ABK students with mild mental retardation to focus on learning and listening to explanations of early reading material.
