Abstract
This study is based on the importance of literacy skills as a fundamental aspect of the learning process, particularly for students with slower learning abilities (slow learners). Slow learners in Grade 1 at SDN Junrejo 01 Batu demonstrate various difficulties in acquiring reading and writing skills. Therefore, adaptive learning services are necessary to ensure that learning can take place effectively. The purpose of this study is to describe the planning, implementation, as well as the obstacles and solutions in adaptive learning services focused on improving the literacy skills of slow learner students.
This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were five slow learner students, the classroom teacher, and the Special Guidance Teacher (GPK). Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The study was conducted at SDN Junrejo 01 Batu from January to February 2025.
The results of the study indicate that adaptive learning services have a positive impact on enhancing the literacy skills of slow learners through strategies such as the use of concrete media, repetition of materials, and individual assistance. However, the implementation of these services still faces several challenges, including time constraints, high teacher workload, and uneven parental involvement. This study is limited to reading and writing skills with a small number of participants. Therefore, future researchers are encouraged to expand the scope of subjects and explore other aspects of literacy skills, such as listening and speaking.
