Abstract
Background: In line with the rapid development of globalization, which is marked by technological
advances, especially in the field of information, which has many impacts, both positive and negative
impacts. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a type of virus that infects white blood cells which
causes a decrease in human immunity. Social media is an interesting thing to try in preventing
HIV/AIDS. The convenience obtained from social media is because it is able to eliminate distance and
time, so that information anywhere, anytime can be accessed by all social media users.
Methods: The type of research used in this study is quantitative research. The population in this study
were social media users. The sample in this study amounted to 136 respondents with total sampling
technique. The research instruments used were social media effectiveness questionnaires and
questionnaires. HIV / AIDS prevention Data analysis to see the relationship using SPSS 23 with a
significance level of 0.05.
Results: The results of this study state that the frequency of respondent characteristics is almost all aged
21-30 years is the largest number of respondents, namely a total of 76 people); The results of the liner
regression test, obtained multiple regression equations as follows: Y= 87.317-0.146 X1. From the analysis
that has been done, it can be seen that the effectiveness of social media does not have a significant effect
on the prevention of HIV and AIDS, according to the results of the t test of the independent variable,
namely the effectiveness of social media does not have a significant influence on attitudes towards the
prevention of HIV and AIDS. From the test analysis, the tcount value was -0.803 with a significance of
5%. All research instruments were declared valid because the value rcount> rtable.
Conclusion: Based on the research objectives and research results obtained from the influence of the use
of social media on the prevention of HIV and AIDS that have been carried out by researchers, the
researchers draw the following conclusions: Respondents between men and women do not differ much in
number. The majority of respondents' age is at the productive age of 21-30 as many as 76 respondents.
There is no influence of the use of social media on the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
