Abstract
Background: ARI is a respiratory tract infection that lasts for 14 days. The
respiratory tract in question is the organs from the nose to the lung alveoli along
with their adnexal organs such as the sinuses, middle ear space to the pleura. This
study focused more on upper respiratory tract infections, including otitis media,
sinusitis, and also pharyngitis or sore throat. ARI is the cause of morbidity and
mortality from infectious diseases in the world. Regarding the prescribing profile
in this research, we reviewed the prescriptions at the Herlina Pharmacy, Sorong
City, West Papua, based on the 2018 West Papua Riskesdas, ARI cases that
occurred in Sorong City, to be precise, numbered 3,549 cases weighted, the most
among cities and districts in West Papua.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the profile of ARI prescribing at the
Herlina pharmacy based on drug function and the most common drug uses at the
Herlina Pharmacy.
Method: Using a retrospective descriptive method, the data was observed and
looked at secondary data on prescriptions for ISPA patients admitted to the
Herlina Pharmacy for the period August 2023.
Result and Conclusion: The results of research according to the prescribing
profile for upper respiratory tract infections for the period August 2023 at the
Herlina pharmacy in Sorong City, can be concluded based on the data that the
function of drugs in upper respiratory tract infection therapy, based on the most
widely used drugs, is mucolytic agents of the type The number of uses of acetin
medication is 250 with a percentage of (39.93%) with a frequency of 29 (19.07%).
