Abstract
This study aims to analyze the form of differentiated learning services in improving students’ reading and writing skills based on the four components of differentiated learning, namely content, processes, products, and learning environments. It is hoped that the course provided can accommodate the differences in interests, learning styles, and needs of each student
The research method used is qualitative research with the research subject consisting of classroom teachers, and students in the lower grades, namely grades 1 and 2 at SDN Burengan 5 Kediri. From the results of the observations that have been made, it is found that the ability to read and write in the elementary school has various levels of ability. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation.
The results of the study show that the application of differentiated learning services can improve the reading and writing skills of each student. Classroom teachers who apply this strategy can also adjust teaching materials, materials (content), classroom management (process), final assessments (products), and the provision of a supportive learning environment according to the needs of each student. In addition, with the implementation of this differentiated learning, students show increased motivation and confidence during the learning process, although in the implementation there are also obstacles felt by classroom teachers in the form of time management, adjustment of teaching materials for each student, and several facilities at school.
The conclusion of this study is that differentiated learning is effective in improving students' reading and writing skills. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers apply this approach in the learning process to optimize the potential of each student.
