Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases with a prevalence that continues to increase every year, both globally and nationally. Preventive efforts are crucial in reducing the incidence of this disease, one of which is through health education. This study aims to determine the effect of education on diabetes mellitus prevention behavior in the community. The method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, using a questionnaire instrument to assess changes in knowledge and behavior before and after the educational intervention. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge and preventive behavior after the educational intervention. These findings indicate that health education plays an important role in raising public awareness and behavior in preventing diabetes mellitus. Therefore, health education programs need to be strengthened and integrated into primary health services.
Objective:
This study aims to identify individuals’ subjective well-being and examine diabetes mellitus prevention behavior in the working area of Candi Public Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency.
Method:
This research uses a quantitative method with an experimental design, applying a cross-sectional approach and accidental sampling technique, involving 249 respondents. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and pamphlets, with validity and reliability tests used for instrument analysis.
Conclusion:
Community behavior in the working area of Candi Public Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency, before and after receiving education on diabetes mellitus showed notable changes. Prior to the education, public knowledge about diabetes was relatively limited, and preventive and management behaviors were inadequate. However, after receiving appropriate education, there was a significant increase in awareness, understanding, and positive behavior changes, such as adopting healthier eating patterns, increased physical activity, and a growing awareness of the importance of regular check-ups. Education on diabetes mellitus is expected to improve the quality of life of the community and prevent serious complications related to the disease.
