Abstract

Batu City is a city where most of the population works in agriculture and tourism. The popular commodity in Batu City is apples. Apple production continues to decline from year to year. Farmers are trying hard to optimize their harvest in various ways. This phenomenon is interesting to be used as an object for creating essay photography works, because with the media of photos, it can communicate to the wider public regarding the lives of apple farmers in Batu City. The research method used is unstructured observation.
The technical photo taking used is a Sony A6400 camera with several additional lenses to maximize the expected details. Photos are taken in portrait or landscape so that the situation and conditions at the location are clearer. Taking pictures with small details is taken using the portrait method. The making of an essay photo book begins with curating and editing photos to then be processed into a photobook with the help of Canva software.
