Abstract
Background: Anemia in women of childbearing age (WUS) is a serious public health problem in Indonesia. Based on Riskesdas (Basic Health Research) data, the prevalence of anemia in WUS tends to increase from year to year and can have a negative impact on quality of life, work productivity and the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Where WUS is a group that plays an important role in family and community development, high rates of anemia can have a systemic impact on national development.
Objective :This study aims to find demographic and frequency factors that influence the incidence of anemia in WUS.
Research methods:This study was designed using a chi square research design with 6268 Indonesian women of childbearing age as respondents. This study used sampling. All women of childbearing age in Indonesia recorded in the Demographic Health Survey (DHS).
Research result:The research findings show that education, employment status, and age are the main factors or the most dominant factors that cause anemia. Low Education (B = -1.486; Sig = 0.000), employment status is not working (B = -2.068), and risky age factors <20 or >35 years (B = -0.545; Sig = 0.002).
Conclusion:Education level, employment status, and age are the main factors that influence the incidence of anemia in women of childbearing age. Women with low education and unemployed and at-risk age groups (<20 or >35 years) are at risk of anemia.
