Abstract
This research is motivated by the fact that physical education teachers are often less creative and lack variety in their teaching methods. The methods used are still command-based or conventional/traditional, leading to low enthusiasm among students in participating in basic movement learning. Moreover, basic movement learning in elementary schools has not fully achieved its learning objectives. There is also a need to build students’ cooperative character, as well as to serve as a medium for teaching manipulative basic movements. This study aims to develop a traditional game model called Bal-Budhi in Physical Education learning for fifth-grade elementary school students. The research and development of the Bal-Budhi traditional game model uses the 4D model, which consists of four stages: Define (Analysis), Design, Development, and Dissemination. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are both qualitative and quantitative. The results from the model expert validation showed a score of 75%, indicating it is very feasible or does not require revision. Meanwhile, the material expert validation yielded a score of 89%, which indicates that the game model has met the material validation aspects and is feasible for use. The student response to the implementation of the Bal-Budhi traditional game model was 100%, indicating it is highly feasible. Teacher response was 85%, also indicating high feasibility. Students were active in learning activities when the Bal-Budhi traditional game model was used, and they were enthusiastic during the learning process because they could learn while playing. The development of the Bal Budhi traditional game model is highly necessary so that the content of the model is not limited only to manipulative basic movement material.
