Abstract

This study aims to investigate ELED students' listening habits towards English songs and evaluate their role in vocabulary development. The study was aimed at English education students in the first semester of the 2024 academic year. The subject used was all the population, with a total of 58 students. The research method is quantitative, using questionnaires and tests as instruments. The scores from the questionnaires and tests will be calculated using product moment correlation analysis. The results of the analysis showed that the relationship between the habit of listening to English songs and the students' vocabulary ability test obtained a correlation value of r of 0.472 and a sig value of 0.000 smaller than 0.05. Whether there is a correlation or not is seen from the sig value. If the sig value > 0.05, then there is no correlation, but if the sig value < 0.05, then there is a correlation. There is a significant positive relationship between the habit of listening to English songs and students' vocabulary ability. Therefore, the higher the students' habit of listening to songs, the higher their vocabulary capacity. Conversely, if the habit of listening to English songs is low, the student's vocabulary capacity is also low.
