Stress can occur due to too many obligations, especially if the load exceeds a person's capacity. The relationship between stress levels and the adaptation process in new students is studied in order to find solutions.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between stress level and adaptation process in new S1 Nursing students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Methods: This study is a descriptive correlation study. This research was conducted in February 2025 at the S1 Nursing Science of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Results: The results of statistics in this study using the spearman rank test obtained a significance value of (p = 0,002). The results showed a significance value of less than 0,05 (sig < 0,05) while the value of the coefficient in the correlation in this study was (r = -0,249) with a negative correlation direction (-) which indicates that there is a relationship between the two variables or it can be interpreted that there is a relationship between the level of stress and the adaptation process in new students, which shows a negative correlation (-) which means that the higher the stress level in new S1 students Nursing Science, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, the lower the adaptation process in new S1 Nursing students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Conclusion: This study using the spearman rank test obtained a correlation of r = -0,249 which means that there is a relationship between stress level and the adaptation process in new S1 Nursing students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The results showed a significance value of less than 0,05 (sig < 0,05) while the coefficient value in the correlation in this study was (r = -0,249) with a negative correlation direction (-) which indicates that there is a relationship between the two variables or it can be interpreted that there is a relationship between the level of stress and the adaptation process in new students, which shows a negative correlation (-) which means that the higher the stress level in new S1 students Nursing Science, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, the lower the adaptation process in new S1 Nursing students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
