Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has driven the growth of digital financial services, including online loans. Despite the convenience offered, there are serious issues regarding the protection of users' personal data. This thesis analyzes the juridical aspects of legal protection for online loan users on the "AdaKami" application. The research aims to examine the forms of legal protection available to users and the liability of service providers in cases of personal data misuse. The research method used is normative juridical with a statutory approach. The findings indicate that legal protection for online loan users consists of preventive and repressive protection. Preventive protection is provided through regulations such as the Consumer Protection Law and the Personal Data Protection Law, which regulate the obligations of service providers in ensuring the security of users' data. Meanwhile, repressive protection includes dispute resolution mechanisms through both litigation and non-litigation channels, as stipulated in the Information and Electronic Transactions Law. The study found indications of personal data misuse harming AdaKami users, such as unauthorized fund disbursements. This highlights gaps in supervision and the implementation of regulations, which need further strengthening. Strengthening regulations, enhancing the role of supervisory authorities, and educating the public are necessary steps to ensure users understand their rights and obligations when using online loan services.
