Abstract
Introduction: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible renal function disorder where the body suffers from failure to maintain metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance, resulting in uremia. Patients who experience CKD must undergo a medical procedure called hemodialysis or dialysis. CKD patients must undergo hemodialysis for life, therefore patients must undergo HD obediently. A long-term hemodialysis process can affect the patient's psychological state, which can lead to patient non-compliance. So resilience is needed for patients to survive in the face of disease. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between resilience and hemodialysis compliance in chronic kidney failure patients.
Method: This research design uses quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire, namely a resilience and compliance questionnaire as validation and analysis in this study used the Spearman correlation test to see the relationship between the two variables. Results: The results of research conducted on 123 patients at RSU Muhammadiyah Malang showed that the majority were aged 56-65 years (35.8%) and 45-55 years (29.3), 67 patients were male (54.5%), 42 patients had elementary school education (34.1%), as many as 80 patients did not work (65.0%) and the majority of HD duration was 1-2 years (35.8%). The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between resilience and compliance. This relationship has a correlation coefficient value of 0.698 with a significance value (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The higher the resilience, the higher the HD compliance.
Conclusion: There is a significant positive relationship or correlation between resilience and compliance, meaning that the higher the level of patient resilience will have a significant effect on the higher the patient's compliance.
