Abstract
Introduction: Chronic renal failure is a dysfunction of the kidneys. Hemodialysis is a treatment that can be done. CKD management will be better depending on the patient's adherence to the dialysis schedule, medication, food restrictions and fluid restrictions. A person undergoing hemodialysis feels afraid of their illness, which causes anxiety which has a positive impact on a person's attitude to get better and want to recover. The purpose from this study to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and hemodialysis compliance in chronic kidney failure patients Method: This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection used the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire and The End Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire (ESRD-AQ) as validation and analysis in this study used the Spearman correlation test to see the relationship between the two variables. Results: The results of the research that was carried out showed that 52% of HD patients at RSU Muhammadiyah University of Malang had moderate levels of anxiety. In terms of compliance, the majority of 97.6% of patients were compliant in undergoing HD. The results of the Spearman correlation test between levels of anxiety and compliance obtained a significance value (p) of 0.034 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient value of -0.192, which means the strength of the correlation is very weak and the correlation coefficient is negative, which means the correlation is not in the same direction, because Anxiety is not the only factor in compliance Conclusion: The conclusion from the research that has been carried out is that HD patients at RSU Muhammadiyah University of Malang have a moderate level of anxiety, which means that HD patients can focus more on important things such as their illness and put aside other things. In Compliance, the majority of patients are compliant in undergoing HD, which means that patients are compliant in following the series of treatments that have been instructed. There is a very weak relationship between anxiety and HD compliance because there are other factors that support compliance.
