Abstract
The development of digital technology has significantly transformed various aspects of life, including the building rental process. As one of the centers of social and economic activities, Malang City has a high demand for building rentals for various events, such as weddings, family gatherings, and corporate events. However, the process of searching for and booking buildings is still carried out manually, leading to inefficiencies in obtaining information about availability, facilities, and rental costs. To address this issue, this study aims to design a mobile-based building rental platform using the Design Thinking approach. Design Thinking was chosen because it is a user-centered approach, starting from the empathy stage to testing to ensure that the resulting solution meets user needs. Interviews were conducted with potential users, including Event Organizers (EO), corporate employees, and unmarried individuals, to identify key issues in the building rental process. The platform prototype was developed in both low-fidelity and high-fidelity versions using Figma and then tested through the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire and Usability Testing using Maze. SUS was used to measure the usability aspects of the system, while Usability Testing evaluated the user experience in using the building rental platform. The SUS test was conducted on 10 respondents, yielding an average SUS score of 84.75, categorized as “Acceptable” with a grade of “B”. The Usability Testing results also showed an average success rate of 100%, an average miss-click rate of 35.27%, and an average duration of 34.67 seconds for all given scenarios.
