Abstract
This study aims to describe the self-disclosure of female users of the Bumble dating application. The research employs a qualitative approach using the phenomenological method, in which data were collected through interviews to gain an in-depth understanding of the participants' experiences. The study focuses on communication messages and the dimensions of self-disclosure. The findings indicate that although users have experienced several negative encounters while using online dating apps, they are still able to demonstrate self-disclosure when interacting on Bumble. The types of interpersonal communication messages that emerged include verbal messages, emotional messages, and conversational messages. In terms of the dimensions of self-disclosure, the quantity dimension shows that participants typically require one to three months to begin opening up. The value dimension reveals that assessments of conversation partners are based on two aspects: speaking style and first impressions. Regarding the honesty dimension, some participants chose to be truthful by using their real identities, while others opted to modify their identities in their profiles or during chats. The intention dimension highlights two main purposes among users: seeking friendship and seeking romantic relationships. Lastly, the intimacy dimension is reflected in the level of commitment, ranging from becoming a couple to remaining casual acquaintances.
