Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the broiler chicken business and has affected
many operational aspects. However, the pandemic has increased awareness of livestock safety. Many
farmers use herbal medicine to improve chicken health and productivity as well as broiler chicken
business revenue. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the impact of broiler chicken farming
business revenue, including price fluctuations and feed availability during the pandemic; (2) the
benefits that broiler chicken farmers can obtain from using herbal medicine during the pandemic; and
(3) the obstacles faced by broiler chicken farmers when adopting the use of herbal medicine during the
pandemic. This study used a survey method using a questionnaire, the number of respondents was 46
farmers in Malang Raya. The research analysis used quantitative descriptive and was assisted by SEMPLS. The results of the study showed that (1) the pandemic had an impact on broiler chicken farming
business revenue, where the average chicken body weight during the pandemic was less and the selling
price of chicken was lower than before and after the pandemic. Feed availability during the pandemic
remained stable while feed prices continued to rise; (2) the benefits obtained from using herbal
medicine during the pandemic were that it could increase chicken productivity, health, and quality; (3)
The obstacles faced by broiler chicken farmers when adopting the use of herbal medicine during the
pandemic are that it only increases working hours for farmers who make their own herbal medicine.
