Abstract
Mathematics learning in elementary schools faces challenges, particularly in understanding the concept of 3D shapes’ nets. The learning media used tend to be abstract, making it difficult for students to visualize the shapes. Therefore, this study aims to develop a learning medium called Miniatur Bantengan of 3D Shape Nets using a Culture Responsive Teaching approach to make it more engaging and relevant to students’ cultural backgrounds.
This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The model is applied systematically, starting from needs analysis, media design, product development, implementation in learning, and evaluation of its effectiveness. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The instruments used in this study are observation sheets, interview sheets, validity questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and documentation.
The results show that the media received a material expert validation score of 96.4% and a media expert validation score of 91.6%, indicating that the media is highly suitable for use. Classroom implementation received a positive response from students with a percentage of 93.42%. Thus, the Miniatur Bantengan of 3D Shape Nets media is effective in increasing students’ interest and understanding of the concept of 3D shape nets. Based on the research conducted, suggestions for future studies include selecting more proportional media and using cultural elements that encompass a wider range of 3D shapes so that students can learn about all types of 3D figures.
