Communication between parents and children has a crucial role in shaping children's openness in school socialization. Communication patterns in the family contribute to the growth of mutual trust, increase children's self-confidence, and shape their character. This study aims to examine the extent to which communication between parents and children affects children's openness in socializing in the school environment. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach. Data collection is conducted through questionnaires given to respondents, namely 4th grade students at SDIT Balikpapan Islamic School. The communication model applied in this study is Wilbur Schramm's communication model, which emphasizes the two-way communication process between the sender and the receiver of the message. The results reveal that good communication between parents and children has a significant impact on children's openness in socializing at school. This finding shows that the more effective the communication, the more likely children are to be more open in socializing with peers. In addition, effective communication also plays a role in helping children deal with various social situations, increase self-confidence, and build healthy relationships with the surrounding environment. Therefore, maintaining positive, open and sustainable communication between parents and children is an important factor in supporting optimal child development, both in academic and social aspects.
