PERLINDUNGAN HUKUM ATAS TERJADINYA PEMBAJAKAN KARYA SINEMATOGRAFI WEB SERIES PADA APLIKASI TELEGRAM

Along with the times, the methods of pirating cinematographic works have become more diverse, starting from piracy through CDs, then through websites, and now the most well-known is piracy through the Telegram application. Cinematographic works are part of Intellectual Property Rights, protected under Article 40 paragraph (1) letter (m) of Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright. Copyright violations harm the creator’s exclusive rights, such as moral and economic rights, because the violators use cinematographic works without the creator’s permission for personal gain. The author aims to examine the legal protection against piracy conducted through the Telegram application and explore the legal consequences of such piracy. This paper uses a Normative Juridical method with a Statutary Approach and Conceptual Approach. Legal materials are collected through library research and content analysis. The legal data is presented in the form of systematically arranged narrative text.
