Abstract
Basic education has an important role in shaping skills Critical Thinking students. teachers use various learning models to achieve learning goals. One of the models applied is the project-based learning model, which allows students to be more active in understanding ecosystem concepts through direct projects and group discussions. This research aims to (1) describe the application of the project-based learning model to the critical thinking skills of class V students in the ecosystem material at SDN Pendem 01 Batu City. (2) Describe the obstacles and solutions in project-based learning for the Critical Thinking skills of class V students at SDN Pendem 01 Batu City. The methodology in research is that this research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data is collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving principals, class V teachers, and VA class students as research subjects. Data analysis is carried out through the data reduction stage, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results obtained are known in class V SDN Pendem 01 Batu City using the Project Based Learning (PJBL) learning model in IPAS learning. The results of this study show that the implementation of the project-based learning model (Project-Based Learning) has a positive impact on the critical thinking skills of class v students in ecosystem materials. Students become more active in the learning process, able to express opinions confidently, and can analyze and solve problems independently. In addition, this learning model also helps students in developing collaborative and communication skills, because they must work together in completing the given project. Teachers act as facilitators who guide students in every stage of learning, from planning to project evaluation. With this approach, learning becomes more meaningful and contextual, so that students can connect the concepts learned with real life. Therefore, Project-Based can be used as an effective alternative in improving students' critical thinking skills in elementary school, especially in IPAS learning.
