Abstract
Mathematical communication is a way for students to express their mathematical ideas in writing or orally, in the form of symbols, tables, diagrams, or other media. Students' abilities in mathematical communication are very important to continue to be developed, because in mathematics learning students not only need the ability to think but communication skills are also very necessary. The general purpose of this study is to describe how students' mathematical communication skills in solving story problems on fractional material based on Gender differences in grade V of SDN Tlekung 02 Batu City.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive methodit is necessary to observe the problems that occur in schools based on Gender in mathematics learning to obtain clear and accurate information. This research will be carried out at SDN Tlekung 02 Batu City. This research uses observation, written tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis in this study is through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. Checking the validity of the data using triangulation techniques.
The results of this study are that female subjects areable to meet all indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely written text, drawing, and mathematical expression, while male subjects are only able to meet two indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely drawing, and mathematical expression.
