Abstract
Mode choice is the most important model in transportation planning. Malang and Surabaya are two major cities in East Java province that have high population growth and are centers of business, education, and industry, so that the level of travel activity connecting the two cities is high. This causes public transportation services to be one of the most needed services. Mode selection is an important aspect in determining transportation policy issues, especially on the routes reviewed. This study aims to determine the characteristics of mode users, factors that influence mode selection, and to obtain an overview of the probability model of mode selection between Train and Bus on the Malang-Surabaya route. This study uses influence attributes in the form of fares and travel time. The data used are primary data in the form of questionnaires with the stated preference method. Modeling is carried out using a multiple linear regression model with the difference binomial logit method. From the results of the study, the utility function model from the stated preference analysis on the fare difference attribute is obtained (∆X1) UKA-UBUS = 0.276 − 0.00003302X. Meanwhile, the utility function of the travel time difference attribute (∆X2) obtained the UKA-UBUS result = 0.074 – 0.019X2.
