Abstract

One of the most important social and economic problems in Indonesia, especially
in Java, is unemployment. Java, the most populous island and center of economic
activity, has significant problems in providing adequate employment opportunities
for its growing workforce. The aim of this research is to understand the dynamics
of open unemployment in the Province of Java Island. The variables used are
Education, Population and Minimum Wages. The research objects in this study are
the Provinces of East Java, Central Java, West Java, Banten, the Special Capital
Region of Jakarta and Yogyakarta Special Region for the period 2015-2024. The
data source used is from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) website. The results
of this research show that partially the education variable, population size has a
significant positive effect on open unemployment on the island of Java, the
minimum wage variable has a significant negative effect on open unemployment
on the island of Java. Meanwhile, simultaneously it shows that the variables
education, population and minimum wage have a significant effect on open
unemployment on the island of Java
