Abstract
Mother’s who have children with Down syndrome often face various challenges. Parenting children with this condition requires more intense attention and support compared to parenting children without disabilities. The level of stress experienced by mothers can affect their resilience in caring for children. This study aims to identify the effect of resilience on parenting stress in mothers who have children with special needs, as well as the role of social support as a mediating variable in this context. This quantitative study involved 100 parents who have children with Down syndrome at SLB Ngantang Malang. The resilience scale, parenting stress scale, and social support were used in the research instrument. The analysis process using the Hayes mediation model was carried out to evaluate whether social support plays a role as a mediating variable in the relationship between resilience and parenting stress, with mediated multi regression using the Analyze Regression Process Hayes model 4 to test the significance of the mediation effect. Without social support as a mediator, indirectly resilience to parenting stress does not have a significant effect (β = -0.235; p = 0.181). Resilience to parenting stress with mediation of social support (β = -2.438; p = 0.001) which means that social support mediates the influence of resilience on parenting stress.
