Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping the religious character of students in the digital era at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Miftahussalam Probolinggo. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection in this study used three methods, namely interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the role of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping the religious character of students is carried out through the following activities: (1) Intracurricular activities: in this activity, the teacher inserts religious character in the learning process of all subjects, namely Al-Quran Hadith, Fiqih, Islamic Cultural History, Arabic, and Akidah Akhlak. The teacher is directly connected with the subject matter of morals or character; (2) Extracurricular activities include: Tilawatil Qur'an using digital literacy methods, Khitabah, Hadrah and Calligraphy. Through these two types of activities, several religious characters are formed: diligent in worship, honest, fond of reading, responsible, independent, appreciate achievements, social care and hard work. By having these characters, students are ready to face the current digital era.
