Abstract

The involvement of organizational commitment among members of the student organization at the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, is facing challenges. This can lead to member inactivity and affect the stability of the organization’s productivity. Self-efficacy, which is an individual's belief in their ability to complete tasks and face challenges, is believed to play an important role in shaping organizational commitment, which includes affective, continuance, and normative dimensions. This study aims to demonstrate that self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. The research method used is quantitative, involving 138 active students selected through purposive sampling. The self-efficacy instrument employs a scale developed by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1993), while organizational commitment is measured using the Organizational Commitment Scale by Jonathan (2020). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students across various divisions of Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Data analysis techniques utilized multiple linear regression to assess the extent to which self-efficacy influences organizational commitment and how this commitment impacts students' decisions to either continue or leave the organization. The findings indicate that efforts to enhance students' self-efficacy, such as through training and development, can be an effective strategy to improve organizational commitment and reduce student inactivity.
