Abstract
In today's rapidly growing era, the tendency not to feel like missing out on other people's experiences, especially in social media life, is getting higher. This causes addiction to social media and the level of fear of missing out is getting higher. This study aims to find out the role of social media addiction on the fear of missing out. The research method uses a quantitative approach, with a correlational type. The criteria for adolescent subjects who use social media aged 12-21 years are 192 people with non probability sampling techniques, to be precise accidental sampling. Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMO) to measure fear of missing out and Social Media Addiction Scale (SMA) to measure social media addiction. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of the study show that social media addiction has a positive effect on the fear of missing out. This research is expected to be a reading material for adolescents and social media users in order to be able to manage activities in playing social media so that it is not excessive, the support of people around them and coping strategies applied in themselves will help in controlling the use of social media so that it does not be excessive so as to reduce the level of FoMO.
