Abstract
The advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the healthcare sector, including patient scheduling management. RSUD Aji Muhammad Parikesit Tenggarong Seberang still relies on Excel for managing rehabilitation schedules. However, this method has several limitations, such as schedule conflicts, input errors, reporting delays, and data inconsistencies requiring repeated verification. This manual process hampers administrative efficiency and affects the quality of rehabilitation services. Therefore, a digital scheduling system is needed to address these issues.
However, implementing digital technology does not always run smoothly. Many systems fail due to a lack of user needs consideration in their design. A survey by IAG Consulting found that errors in gathering requirements cause 68% of digital projects to fail before implementation. Additionally, an unsuitable user interface (UI) design can lead to confusion, slow down information retrieval, and increase the risk of errors in system usage. A complex UI also reduces productivity and discourages users from adopting the application. Hence, a user-centered design approach is a key factor in the successful implementation of digital systems.
This study applies the User Centered Design (UCD) method to design the user interface for a medical rehabilitation scheduling application. This approach focuses on user needs through four main stages: understanding the usage context, defining user requirements, designing solutions, and evaluating the design. By implementing UCD, this research aims to develop a scheduling application UI design that aligns with user needs in terms of usability and effectively addresses scheduling challenges, ultimately improving the quality of rehabilitation services at RSUD Aji Muhammad Parikesit.
