PERAN PENYIDIK DALAM MENANGANI PERBUATAN MAIN HAKIM SENDIRI (EIGENRECHTING) STUDI DI KEPOLISIAN RESOR KOTA BESAR MAKASSAR

This study is entitled The Role of Investigators in Handling Acts of Vigilance
(Eigenrechting) Study of the Makassar City Police Resort and will discuss 2
formulations of the problem, namely the role of investigators in handling acts of
vigilantism in the Makassar City Police Resort study and the obstacles of
investigators in handling acts of vigilantism in the Makassar City Police Resort. One
of the deviations from norms or criminal acts that always occur in society is
vigilantism (eigenrichting) where the act is carried out by a group or group living in
an area with very close ties of brotherhood if a crime occurs in their environment.
Acts of vigilantism carried out by the community are basically prohibited by law,
because those who have the authority to process and resolve legal problems that
occur in the community are law enforcement officers using legal channels. The low
level of legal knowledge in the community often triggers anger and prefers to carry
out their own punishment on perpetrators of crimes because for the community such
punishment is more effective. Things like this are certainly a special concern for law
enforcement officers to take action to discipline the community and prevent there
from being any more arbitrary acts by the community and ignoring the existence of
legal rules.
