Abstract
Background:Pneumonia occurs due to common and frequent acute respiratory
disorders that can affect the alveoli and distal bronchial tree of the lungs. Infections
acquired from the community are known as community-acquired pneumonia which is
the most serious type of infection. Toddlers who experience pneumonia are a disease
where inflammation occurs in the lungs of children aged 0-5 years, causing the lung
alveoli to fill with fluid, hypoxia occurs which can cause toddlers to die.
Objective:This study aims to determine the relationship between host factors: nutritional
status and BBL on the recurrence rate of pneumonia in toddlers.
Research methods:The research design uses correlation analysis with a cross-
sectional approach. The sampling technique used is Accidental sampling. Research
with a sample of 101 respondents at the Dinoyo Health Center, Malang City for 1
month. Data collection uses medical record data and researchers use the Non-
Parametric Test Statistical Test with the Spearman Rho correlation technique is a test to
determine the relationship between two variables...
Results:The results of this study showed that most toddlers experienced poor
nutritional status with a majority of 52 (51.5%) and a history of toddler birth weight of
52 (51.5%). Meanwhile, the recurrence rate of pneumonia in toddlers was mostly
recurred by 88 (87.1%). The results of the Spearman Rho correlation test between
host factors related to nutritional status and birth weight with the recurrence rate of
pneumonia in toddlers did not have a significant value of 0.055 and 0.174 and a
correlation coefficient value of 0.584 and -0.136
Conclusion:Host factors of nutritional status and BBL are not significant in the
recurrence rate of pneumonia in toddlers, so there is no relationship between host
factors of nutritional status and BBL and the recurrence rate of pneumonia in
toddlers.
