Abstract
Introduction: Smoking behavior is a problem that is difficult to overcome because this problem is so complex. Smoking is a form of tobacco use. Smoking is a modifiable risk factor for adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes and is associated with maternal, fetal, and infant morbidity and mortality.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of smoking behavior among pregnant women and to determine its relationship with demographic and behavioral determinants in Indonesia.
Method: This research uses a cross-sectional approach using data from the demographic health survey (DHS) in Indonesia. In this research, data was granted permission via the web permission https://dhsprogram.com which was conducted in 2020 with a sample of 49,591 respondents.
Results: Analysis showed that the eight factors studied had significant results influencing smoking behavior in pregnant women, the dominant age factor is low risk in the age range 15-39 years (n=36324), the residence factor is more often in urban areas (n=26409), the gender factor of the head of the household is more often male (n=43248), more wealth index factors are classified as low economic (n= 29097), more educational factors that are low educated (n=27330), more smoking behavior factors that rarely use (n= 48497), more smoker factors who do not use cigarettes (n= 48497), more smoker factors who do not use cigarettes (n= 49588), more e-cigarette factors who do not use e-cigarettes (n= 49581), and other smoking factors, more people do not use other cigarettes (n= 49583).
Conclusions: From the research results, it was concluded that the results showed that all the factors used in this research starting from type of place of residence, age, educational attainment, wealth index, and method of tobacco use had a significant influence.
