Abstract
The number of internet users is increasing in this digital era, one of the largest internet users at this time is teenagers. Because of the ease of using the internet, many teenagers have difficulty managing their time, activities become disrupted and cause problematic internet use. Excessive internet usage behavior is also known as problematic internet use. Problematic internet use can be caused by several factors, one of which is family functioning. This is because families who cannot carry out their functions properly will have difficulty building good communication between family members. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between family functioning and problematic internet use in adolescents. The research method used a quantitative approach with accidental sampling technique, involving 120 adolescents as subjects. The instruments used were the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) to measure family functioning and the Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire (PIUQ) to measure problematic internet use. Data analysis used Spearman correlation test. The results showed no significant relationship between family functioning and problematic internet use in adolescents with a p value of 0.06.
