Abstract

Drug crime is an extraordinary crime and is one of the coordinated international crimes. Drug abuse in Indonesia has reached an alarming level due to the increasing number of cases every year. Drug abuse is a deviation from social norms and values that apply in society. Drug abuse has a very complex impact that not only affects the user but will also affect the family, the environment and even a nation. Drug abuse can damage the next generation of the nation because it is eroded by addictive substances that destroy brain nerves. If this is allowed to continue, it will certainly result in the loss of a generation of the nation (lost generation) in the future. The causes of drug abuse are caused by internal and external factors. This study aims to determine what factors influence the informants so that they are caught in drug abuse. In this study, the method used is empirical research using a sociological approach. The data sources in this study use primary data obtained by conducting interviews and secondary data including laws and regulations, legal journals and legal books. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the factors causing drug abuse are divided into 2, namely internal and external factors which are analyzed using the theory of differential association, labeling and social control where these three theories are theories of deviation in legal criminology.
