Abstract

Adolescents generally do not have good self-control, so it is often difficult to make wise decisions or actions that will lead to acts of aggression. Therefore, self-control is needed for adolescents to control their behavior and emotions in order not to behave aggressively. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-control on aggression in adolescents. This research is quantitative research with a correlational type. The sampling technique used in this study is quota sampling. The population in this study were adolescents aged 15-18 years, and the number of samples in this study were 398 respondents. This study used the Full Self-control Scale with a reliability value of 0.999 to measure self-control variables, while the aggression behavior variable was measured by The Aggression Questionnaire with 0.806. The collected data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that self-control has a significant effect on aggressive behavior, so the hypothesis that there is an influence between self-control and aggressive behavior can be accepted. This study aims to provide an understanding of the importance of self-control to reduce aggressiveness in adolescents. Thus, it is hoped that adolescents can be wiser in their behavior and avoid violence that can harm themselves and others.
