Abstract

This study aims to explain Sweden's efforts in implementing the RePowerEU policy as a strategic step in the transition to green energy, especially as a response to the energy crisis caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This initiative emphasizes reducing dependence on fossil fuels, especially those from Russia. Using the concept of energy security, this study examines the interaction between domestic and external factors that influence energy policy in Sweden. The method used in writing this thesis is qualitative with a descriptive model. The results of the study show that challenges to energy security, including the risk of supply instability and geopolitical threats, have driven Sweden to adopt the RePowerEU policy. The involvement of the private sector and the active role of the Swedish government have proven to be very important in the successful implementation of the policy.
