Abstract

Introduction: pregnancy complications are pregnancy crises that are often experienced during pregnancy which can cause maternal and baby health problems. During the pregnancy period, special focus is needed to improve the level of welfare of the mother and baby.
Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between age, province, domicile, education, economic status, Antenatal Care visits, knowledge of the dangers of pregnancy, number of pregnancies, number of living children, and health insurance with the occurrence of pregnancy complications in Indonesia
Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study with the 2017 Demographic Health Survey (DHS) in Indonesia. The research sample was 14,938 mothers with pregnancy complications. Analysis was successfully carried out to determine the relationship between age, province, type of residence, education, wealth, hospital visits, danger of pregnancy, number of pregnancies, number of living children, and health insurance with the occurrence of health complications using chisquare test and logistic regression.
Results: The results of the bivariate test analysis showed that the six factors studied had significant results in influencing the incidence of pregnancy complications. However, when analyzed using a multivariate test using a multiple logistic regression test, there were two factors that did not have a significant value influencing the incidence of pregnancy complications in Indonesia, namely education and wealth index.
Conclusions: In the research that has been carried out, the final results show that the factors that most dominate the incidence of pregnancy complications in pregnancies in Indonesia are the dangers of pregnancy and health insurance.
