Abstract
Abstract. Academic stress is a condition that occurs when a person faces high academic demands and students are unable to solve them. Students' inability to cope with their problems can cause negative emotions. One form of inability to cope with negative emotions is self-harm without intending to commit suicide or Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI). Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) is direct and intentional damage to body tissue, but intends to commit suicide. This study used 106 subjects with the criteria of subjects aged 12-18 years, currently attending junior and senior high school, and had committed Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI). The instrument used to measure academic stress variables is Bedewey and Gabriel's Perceptions of Academic Stress Scales (PASS) scale, while to measure NSSI variables using Sansone's Self-Harm Inventory (SHI) scale which has been adapted by Kusumadewi. The hypothesis test of this study used a correlation test using the help of SPSS 25 for windows with a p value = 0.009 <0.05, which means there is a relationship between academic stress and NSSI. Based on this study, it was found that academic stress has a significant positive relationship with Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI), meaning that the higher the academic stress, the higher the Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI).
