Abstract
This research is research that discusses Australia’s interests as one of the strong countries in the Indo-Pacific region in maintaning stability through the AUKUS alliance. Australia joined the AUKUS alliance in September 2021, along with the United States and the United Kingdom,which signifying Australia’s participation in maintaining Indo-Pacific stability. For Australia, this aliance also has several advantage that will support the country’s military capabilities, so this researcg aims to determine Australia’s role and interests in maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region by joining AUKUS alliance using descriptive methods. This research uses Role Theory as a basis for studying the actions of the Australia. This research method is explanatory study in collecting data including theses, journals, books, and also articles. The results of this research show that in an effort to maintain the stability of the Indo-Pacific region, Australia’s interest in joing this alliance is to build its domestic strength, both in military and economic terms, so that it is able to defend itself and help strengthen the defense of the Indo-Pasific form China.
