Abstract
The family environment is essential for children's development, yet not all children receive this support, especially those living in orphanages. Adolescents in orphanages are more vulnerable to psychological issues, which can be managed with self-compassion to improve their mental well-being. This study aims to enhance self-compassion among adolescents in orphanages through self-compassion group training. The research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving 10 adolescents aged 14-18 years as subjects. The training consisted of 7 sessions, each lasting 60-120 minutes. Data analysis utilized non-parametric tests, specifically the Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests. Results indicate that the self-compassion group training intervention had no significant effect on changes in pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group (p=0.295; p>0.05) or in the control group (p=0.465; p>0.05). Additionally, there was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups in post-test results (p=0.498; p>0.05), indicating that this intervention was not effective in increasing self-compassion among adolescents in orphanages.
