Abstract
Wahyuniati, Sri. 2024. “Synergy of Learning Motivation in Procrastination Students At Muhammadiyah Vocational School 01 Malang. Master of Pedagogy”. Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Supervisor (1) Assc. Prof. Dr. Arif Budi Wurianto, M.Si, Supervisor (II) Assc. Assc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Syahri, M.Sc. Academic procrastination is the behavior of procrastinating in submitting assignments which has a negative impact on student learning outcomes, especially in the Vocational High School (SMK) environment which has an academic burden and skills practice.
This research is motivated by the problems caused by students who like to procrastinate on assignments which results in hampering the assessment system at school, especially hampering the teacher's work in collecting grades and hampering the class teacher's work in recapping lag. This research aims to explore the synergy of learning motivation in overcoming the procrastination behavior of vocational school students through a qualitative approach with non-correlational descriptive methods. The focus of this research is to identify supporting and inhibiting factors for learning motivation and synergy that can be applied to reduce procrastination. This research was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 01 Malang involving 20 participants, consisting of students, teachers, homeroom teachers, guidance counselors
and parents. Data collection techniques use in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis. The data was analyzed in stages by organizing data, reducing data, categorizing, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that intrinsic learning motivation, such as awareness of the importance of education for the future, is the main driver in reducing procrastination. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation, such as pressure from parents or punishment, is less effective if it is not supported by internal factors of the student. A supportive learning environment, the role of the guidance counselor as a motivator, and parental involvement in learning are important elements in creating synergistic learning motivation. In addition, it was found that interventions such as individual counseling, time management, and achievement-based rewards can help reduce procrastination behavior gradually.
This research concludes that learning motivation in synergy with the support of the students' environment, including class teachers, guidance counselors, and parents, is able to overcome the procrastination behavior of students at SMK Muhammadiyah 01
Malang. It is hoped that these findings can become a reference in developing learning synergy and student mentoring programs at SMK Muhammadiyah 01 Malang.
