Abstract
The wood industry in Indonesia faces challenges in meeting global market demands due to doubts about the origin and legality of raw materials. To address this, the Timber Legality Assurance System (SVLK), implemented since 2009, aims to ensure legality, sustainability, and improve the competitiveness of wood products. Field observations indicate that most small-scale wood industries in Jombang have yet to obtain legality certification. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the responses of small-scale wood industry players in Jombang Regency to the implementation of SVLK policies and its impact on industry profitability. This study uses a purposive random sampling method with 43 industries as samples. The Likert scale was used to evaluate responses in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, while economic profitability comparisons were assessed using net profit calculations.
The results show that the majority of industry players' responses to SVLK are in the sufficient category, with each showing knowledge (62.79%), attitude (51.16%), and behavior (48.84%). For certified industries, they have better performance in sales, selling prices, and net profits than those who have not applied for certification. So there is a need for increased socialization, technical assistance, and cost subsidies to make SVLK a success among small industries.
