Abstract
Background : Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection has now become a global health problem. Adolescents who lack information tend to engage in risky behavior, such as unsafe sex, risk of pregnancy at a young age, use of drugs, alcohol, psychotropic and addictive substances (NAPZA), abortion, sexual harassment, and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV. /AIDS. This research aims to determine the factors behind the knowledge of teenagers in Indonesia about
HIV/AIDS. Methods : The research design used was cross sectional and used data from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey, modified according to needs. Data analysis used the Person Chi-Square Test with a p value <0.05 considered significant.
Result : The research results obtained 14,766 respondents from 49,627 respondents. The age factor is related to teenagers' knowledge about HIV/AIDS with a P-value 0.000. The most dominant factor in teenagers' knowledge about HIV/AIDS in Indonesia is age with an Exp(B) value of 1.465. Conclusion : The level of knowledge of adolescents about HIV is still lacking, this
condition is influenced by several factors including age, education, employment status, level of wealth, type of residence, marital status, and sources of AIDS knowledge. The most dominant variable influencing adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS is the
education variable. While gender has no significant relationship. Based on the results of the study, the role of health workers is expected to be able to provide counseling about HIV/AIDS to adolescents, because health workers are the right source for
adolescents to get quality information and counseling.
